Child of Chaos, The Chesan Legacy Series, Book One, was released on December 15, 2015.  Pre-publication readers had this to say:

“Child of Chaos was a great read by an up and coming Sci-Fi writer. It contains interesting characters and a great heroine. I wanted to start reading the next one in the series to see what happened next!”
Suzy Davies, Ph.D.

“The author weaves a fascinating, exciting and moving saga of the future of the universe in this gripping story. Her use of precise detail makes her suspense scenes almost unbearable! You won’t be able to put this one down.”
Shari Holmes

“Child of Chaos is an amazing adventure that opens your mind to several new exciting worlds.  There is action, adventure, a hint of romance, and unbreakable bonds of loyalty. I found myself fighting along side Tridia for survival and desperately seeking answers from her blocked memory. There are so many twists and turns, I was left wanting more.  I can’t wait for book two.”
Dana Jackson

“I couldn’t stop once I started – I read the whole book in two days. I can’t wait for the next one so I can find out what happens with Drayden.”
Beth Brown

“Great read! Multiple plots, multiple characters with mysterious history. Lots of action. Can’t wait for the next one!”
Judge Steven Lee

“I am a huge fan of the genre and I have always gotten grief from friends for the amount of time I spend reading science fiction.  I don’t mind, though, especially when the quality is good, and I can say that your first venture into this is very good!  I went through this probably in three days, and found that I was waiting to see what was going to happen with Tridia and everyone else.  The flow of the story and the timeline was very well done and kept my interest.  I even liked some of the twists and turns.  In short, I’m looking forward to the next book in the series and, while I’m not an expert by any means in writing, I think you’re very talented.”

5.0 out of 5 stars Great characters in an intricate plot

Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2018

This book has an intricate plot. At first we’re made to think Tridia is the only survivor of the Chesan race, but later we learn differently. The story really starts when she’s a teenaged assassin for the Hierarchy, the ruling body of one set of worlds. In an attempt to reach the highest level, she requests a Challenge Hunt. We also see her and this universe through the eyes of Ambassador Brenden Aren, and a small part of it through the eyes of Drayden and those of his lookalike Davik. Many other prominent characters have roles in the story, most prominently, Empress Dojene. Each of these characters is distinct and well-rounded.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Read

Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2016

I read the promo for the book and thought the idea of a whole race choosing to self destruct was implausible…and why would they care about a 4 year old left behind? The more I thought about it though the more I wanted to know more. Then we meet Tridia…OMG, amazing character. Young, driven, disciplined. But she’s not the only excellently complex character. The author introduces others who have presence and purpose, yet whose existence both challenge and define Tridia’s journey. I quickly became enthralled to the progression of events. An excellent read…I only wish volume 2 were already available.

5.0 out of 5 stars Action, Adventure, and a mystry that spans the galaxy!!

Wow!! This book has it all! Tridia is a main character who is easy to love and easier to route for. She is strong, smart, and very well trained but is surrounded by a deep mystery. As her powers begin to grow she becomes more aware of the mystery that has always surrounded her, but the harder she tries to figure out the truth the further it gets from her. Until an explosive conclusion that leaves you breathless for more!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking forward to the next book!

When I first started reading, I felt a bit like I’d been dropped into an already ongoing story with a Hunger Games flavor. ( I liked Hunger Games, BTW) But as the story developed, the backstory and general exposition was satisfyingly resolved. I got involved with the characters and the larger saga of the various civilizations. Well, done, and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!

5.0 out of 5 stars A sci-fi effort from a freshman writer who shows great promise!

First, a disclosure: I am a former work colleague of Ms. Williams and had the privilege of proofing the book while in final draft form and again just before publication. That said, I found the writing to be excellent, with very good character development and great attention to detail in the story line. Her prose painted for me a vivid picture of the settings and the characters, to the point that I could easily envision each scene in my mind’s eye. I particularly liked the inclusion of a prologue which set the stage quite nicely without revealing all about the major characters. And the book ends on a note that has me eager to read the next segment of the story; there is still much to be resolved.

There are perhaps more characters here than are usually found in science fiction writing – early on I considered jotting down notes. Still, Ms. Williams can be said to be in good company on this account; I’m probably not the only person initially confused by Tolkien’s characters Sauron and Saruman!

5.0 out of 5 stars A tug-of-war between loyalty and integrity

Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2017

I’m an absolute sucker for confident female characters with a touch of recklessness. Tridia embodies this persona with echoes of Alice (Resident Evil) and Leeloo (The Fifth Element). I especially enjoyed the personal tug-of-war between loyalty and integrity. Williams does a fantastic job in creating strong character arcs that weave flawed personalities into ambiguous situations.

I don’t like being forced to do anything. Like leave a long as critique of a book Unlike i was in college… that’s why I gave this book 2 stars where I would have given it a 5…

5.0 out of 5 stars Bravo!!

I have read this book twice and find it absolutely amazing. Child of Chaos is an intriguing book with several unexpected twists and turns. It definitely leaves you wanting more. The author does a great job depicting other worlds as you fight along with Trida in her quest. The strength in the characters can be felt with every turn of the page. I am anxiously awaiting the second book.
